Mustapha Kamara (Rap Star) was born on the 4th December, 1990. His father is called Mr. Mohamed Kamara and mother Mrs. Messie Kamara.

He attended St. Edwards Primary school from class one to six, and later further his education at Albert Academy. He has two brothers and one sister. He started musical carrier with a friend called Lux. P. and they did only one single song title no more fighting. After that he wrote his West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.

At that time, there was no money for him to further higher education.

He dropped out of school in 2008, and decided to abandon his parents and started living on the street to a friend called Balaze. But for a short time, because he only love football, because he was a team coach. From there, he came across a guy called Law Ten where he started to experience easy life by selling Marijuana for him on commission basis.

He was selling marijuana when he came across Snazzy who asked him to join the SD Unit.
They started doing everything in common. In December 2009, they were at the ghetto practising a song when Lansana Juana from Mind to Change asked them to perform a song for their project about child soldiers.

Rapstar admires artists like P-Square from Nigeria and Akon.

Moriba Lavalie (Inspirational Snazzy) was born on the 23rd March, 1986 in Mattru Chiefdom. His late father Mr. Joseph Lavalie died on the 11th May, 1997 during the war. His mother Mrs. Patricia Lavalie is a petty trader with six children. At the time he attended secondary school, he was staying with a friend's mother called Luciana Dauphin, who rescued him from going astray. Luciana used to pay his school fees and in return he helped her with domestic work. She treated him like he was her biological son.


In January 2002 he returned to his mother. He started taking extra classes to prepare for the final examination. But unfortunately, his mother was unable to sponsor him and he had to drop out of school. He then embarked on a musical career. He was interested in various types of musics, and loved to sing songs by other artists. But his stepfather did not agree with his choice and wanted him to play football in stead. To be able to follow his own heart and concentrate on his music career, he ultimately left his mother's house.


He formed the group Exponent with two friends. Snazzy was the leading vocalist. They made a song called Disap-pointment, but soon after, they separated. After that, Snazzy and his friend Deffy founded the SD Unit. They made two singles: 'Nero' and 'To the Rule'. From there, people started recognizing them and they started growing. In 2009, Snazzy and Deffy joined up with Rapstar, Sweed, and Ruff n Tuff, making the SD Unit a group of five young men with the same desire: to make music their career.
